Biography
Hertunba was founded in 2020 by Nigerian designer Florentina Agu, whose path into fashion began with an early fascination for garment-making and evolved into a practice rooted in storytelling. The womenswear label approaches clothing as a narrative form—each piece shaped by personal experience, memory, and a broader reflection on womanhood.
Working closely with artisans, Hertunba produces garments that foreground handwork, from weaving and threading to tailored construction. The process is deliberately intimate, with each stage of making carried out by skilled hands in Nigeria. Alongside this, the brand engages directly with questions of waste, repurposing excess textiles into new forms—whether reworked into garments or transformed into functional objects—extending the life cycle of material beyond its original use.
This dual focus on craft and circularity is matched by a social commitment: Hertunba invests in training and employment for women, with a portion of proceeds supporting education initiatives aimed at long-term economic independence.
