Ohiri
Outlines Long Necklace
-
Insider Notes
-
In her creations, Ohiri’s designer Akébéhi Kpolo pays tribute to the traditions and folklore of Côte d’Ivoire—reimagined with a modern twist. This long necklace is crafted from hand-hammered brass and strung with an abstract pendant recalling the shape of two crocodiles, one croc biting another one’s tail: a powerful symbol of dualism and individuality rooted in the Akan culture. The long drop makes it ideal for plunging necklines.

Ohiri
Led by creative director Akébéhi Kpolo, Ivorian jewelry brand Ohiri creates conceptual pieces that serve as both sartorial adornments and artistic statements. Their approach is to understand the symbolism of ornamentation in certain ancient African cultures and to reinterpret it through different mediums, making free and abstract designs that are wholly unique and thoughtfully sustainable.
