Biography
At Elexiay, crochet is treated not as ornament, but as foundation. Founded in 2018 by Elyon Adede, the Nigerian womenswear label centres its practice on handcraft—reworking an often-overlooked technique into a contemporary wardrobe built through patience and precision.
Each piece begins with the hand. Crochet garments are made in Nigeria by a network of skilled female artisans, using methods passed down through generations and executed without industrial machinery. The result is clothing shaped stitch by stitch, where time and labour remain visible in the final form. This approach extends beyond aesthetics, grounding the brand in a production model that prioritises local making and sustained livelihoods.
While crochet forms the core, Elexiay’s broader offering includes knitwear developed across Europe and Asia, creating a dialogue between handwork and global production. Through this balance, the label situates traditional technique within a wider, evolving fashion context.
