Rethread is a Cape Town-based label that approaches fashion through a circular lens, reworking what already exists into something newly relevant. Founded by Alexa Schempers, the brand emerged from a desire to challenge conventional production models, favouring small-batch releases and adaptive design over excess.

The collections move fluidly between upcycled, vintage, and newly produced pieces. Garments are often reimagined from existing materials—transforming pre-worn clothing into contemporary staples—while others are crafted locally from fabric rolls by skilled artisans. This dual approach allows Rethread to balance creativity with resourcefulness, embedding sustainability directly into the design process.
