Biography
Founded by Koudiedji Sylla, Sarakulé is a fashion label operating between Bamako and Paris, grounded in textile and tradition. The brand works primarily with hand-dyed cotton, drawing on longstanding Malian dyeing techniques to create garments that are both culturally rooted and contemporary in form.
Material is central to the design process. Fabrics are developed through artisanal methods, including natural dyeing practices that give each piece subtle variations in tone and texture. These textiles are then shaped into considered silhouettes that move between womenswear and unisex dressing.
Sarakulé collaborates closely with local artisans—dyers, weavers, and tailors—embedding craft into every stage of production. Rather than replicating tradition, the brand repositions it, allowing heritage techniques to exist within a modern wardrobe.
With a restrained approach to design, Sarakulé focuses on clarity of form and integrity of material, allowing the textile to define the garment.
Sarakulé’s work sits at the intersection of craft and continuity—where clothing becomes a quiet expression of place, process, and evolving cultural identity.
