Ushering in warmer weather and longer days, spring also brings a chance for renewal, and if the SS’22 runways are anything to go by, this new season is full of optimism. Through bold color palettes, printed co-ords, fringe detailing, and new approaches to color blocking, it’s clear we’re all looking forward to dressing up again. Bright tones have long been synonymous with the warmer seasons, but now, designers have kicked that up a notch, offering high-octane highlighter hues. Yellow, in particular, is a standout as Andrea Iyamah, Orange Culture, and Pepper Row offer swimwear, loungewear, and suits in a range of tints like lemon, mustard, and neon. Fringe has reemerged, though this time in the form of hand-dyed Raffia, providing a sustainable, regional twist on an old favorite. Statement pieces and super prints abound in the new collections, confirming this season’s theme of unparalleled joy. Now that we’re finally putting away our knits and doing away with our winter layering, it’s a great time to breathe new life into your closet. For the Industrie Africa team, spring has sprung, and we’ve put together an edit of all the trends and designers we’ll be wearing in the months to come.

1. What does Spring and Spring fashion mean to you?
It’s a chance to break away from monochromatic cold weather dressing and experiment with colors, prints, and textures to be more adventurous.
2. What are your favorite SS'22 trends?
I love highlighter hues and neon colors because they symbolize happiness.
3. What will you be wearing?
Emmy Kasbit’s Ijeoma Dress is the perfect transitional piece for the change of seasons because the temperatures throughout the day are so variable. I also love how deconstructed the shape is and how Emmy Kasbit has literally woven motifs from Nigerian history into this design.

1. What does Spring and Spring fashion mean to you?
As the year wears on, it’s so easy to get stuck in a style rut or cling to comfort pieces, regardless of trends. It may sound cliché, but spring ushers in a world of possibilities for getting dressed.
2. What are your favorite SS'22 trends?
Before I share my favorites, I will say that many trends that have emerged this season have been incredibly wearable no matter your style, democratizing them and making them far more exciting. Though I am gravitating towards the exuberance of statement pieces and the drama of fringing.
3. What will you be wearing?
The Zonna Dress from Emmy Kasbit would be a welcome injection of vibrance into my wardrobe, and I love Maliko’s aesthetic and the rawness of the Otito Sandals. Crafted from rubber, wood, and cotton, they’re a great example of masterful yet simple artisanship. Handcrafted by in-house craftspeople from sustainable leather sourced locally to Lagos, they’re an opportunity to carry a little bit of home wherever I go.

1. What does Spring and Spring fashion mean to you?
Living in Paris, spring means the return of the sunny days and nature waking up from its winter sleep.
2. What are your favorite SS'22 trends?
Mini skirts, neon hues, and fringe.
3. What will you be wearing?
The Rolake Camp Shirt with KikoRomeo’s Saadani Pants. It’s a relaxed look with pops of color, reminiscent of the hues appearing with the new season. The sunglasses are the final touch, essential to welcome the sun back.

1. What does Spring and Spring fashion mean to you?
Not one to resist spring’s inherent optimism, I like to indulge in its connotations of renewal, reinvention, and rejuvenation. When layering is no longer necessary, clothes need to make a strong, singular impression—the best designs do this while simultaneously stoking a sense of exploration and curiosity.
2. What are your favorite SS'22 trends?
It’s fascinating to see how designers deconstruct ideas around gender, expanding the spectrum of styles and shifting norms away from dusty binaries.
3. What will you be wearing?
Pairing the shirt from Pepper Row’s For Alyx Smart Lounge Set with Andrea Iyamah’s Akacia Shorts creates a juicy color burst infused with that signature spring optimism. I tend to offset short shorts with an oversized collared shirt, and Maliko’s Azia Sandals add an essential nerdy sensibility to the equation. Finally, the generosity of New Tangier’s mega Karima Weekender is irresistible and serves the purpose of carrying my inappropriately long list of everyday essentials.

1. What does Spring and Spring fashion mean to you?
As someone who’s never been a fan of colder weather, spring is my time to shine. It’s a time to adventure and explore, from nights out with friends to enjoying the great outdoors as nature comes to life again. Spring fashion is all about that resurrection, so I love seeing new ideas or old ideas reimagined.
2. What are your favorite SS'22 trends?
Bold color is my big story from the runways. Finally, fashion has become fun again after a time of work-from-home-friendly clothing. I’m looking forward to how designers combine our new relaxed sensibilities with our slow return to dressing up. The use of indigenous textile production techniques is also notable as designers look to the past to tackle sustainability creatively.
3. What will you be wearing?
I’m obsessed with the movement and color of Cynthia Abila’s Okoroshi Skirt. The different shades of green, pink, red, and orange are a great opportunity to color block, and I would pair it with something like the Lemony Blazer to make a statement.

1. What does Spring and Spring fashion mean to you?
It’s all about experimenting. I think this is the best season to play around with silhouettes, colors and simply be able to mix and match fabrics and cuts into a single look. S/S fashion lets you be expressive about your style, with more freedom to elevate a look by adding bolder, standout pieces or a laid-back look, with less layering.
2. What are your favorite SS'22 trends?
There are quite a few: cutouts, understated luxury, bold hues, stripes, standout accessories, and all white or neutral looks.
3. What will you be wearing?
My look encompasses structured silhouettes, standout accessories, and pops of color to make a statement. The contrast between the relaxed fit of the Fulani Embroidered Crop Top and the fitted shape of the pants express the versatility of my sense of style, and pairing these two pieces together highlights one of my favorite SS’22 trends–understated luxury. I chose to finish the look with a top handle bag to add more vibrancy and platform slippers for an effortless feel.

1. What does Spring and Spring fashion mean to you?
Spring means new beginnings, so spring fashion is the new beginning for my wardrobe.
2. What are your favorite SS'22 trends?
The Y2K revival, suiting, fringe detailing, black and white, and oversized silhouettes.
3. What will you be wearing?
My personal style is very minimal, so I’m drawn to these minimal but highly detailed pieces by Pepper Row and Viviers. In addition, I’ve included some impactful accessories by Adele Dejak and Loza Maleombho to elevate the look.

1. What does Spring and Spring fashion mean to you?
Spring, to me, is a celebration of new beginnings and renewal. The energy of lushness and action.
2. What are your favorite SS'22 trends?
Updated corsets, over-the-top shirts, draped dresses in yummy pastel colors, crops and dresses with tails, fringing, and statement jewelry with pops of color.
3. What will you be wearing?
My selection has my favorite trends: draping and flow in the Osagie Shirt Dress and fringing on the Jiamini earrings and the Baba Berry Bag. It’s an unapologetically feminine look paired with statement accessories.
