Biography
Studio Imo operates at the pace of the hand. Led by Edwin Okolo, the Nigerian label centres slow knitwear, with crochet as its primary medium—each piece constructed through a process that resists speed in favour of precision and care.
Working with a small, close-knit team, Okolo produces garments in limited quantities, often no more than a few hundred pieces annually. This scale is intentional. Crochet, by nature, demands time, and Studio Imo leans into that constraint, allowing the labour of making to remain visible in the final work. Materials are sourced locally, and production takes place in small batches, reinforcing a practice rooted in proximity and accountability.
The resulting pieces sit between clothing and object—collected as much as worn. With a focus on bespoke commissions and a pre-order model, Studio Imo builds a direct relationship with its audience, framing each garment as part of an ongoing, personal archive rather than a seasonal cycle.
